A Congleton shop owner has thanked traders and businesses for displaying Cong Bear in their windows and playing their part in a local Facebook group's mantra, which focuses on encouraging residents to shop in the town.

The co-creators of Cong Bear, Stuart and Sharon Neild, have been helping the towns businesses before, during and as we come slowly come out of lockdown, through their Shop Congleton Facebook Group, Instagram account, and their weekly Canalside Radio Show.

Wendy Payton, from Wendy's Pet Salon on Lawton Street, Congleton, was so pleased at how the couples Shop Congleton movement had been so active in promoting the town, she asked if she could print some posters of Cong Bear to display in her shop and for other Congleton businesses that wanted a copy.

Such was the enthusiasm from other shops and people in general, Wendy wrote a letter of thanks for the support to businesses.

Wendy said: "Thank you for placing Cong Bear in your shop window as a show of support, love and best wishes to all the shops and businesses in Congleton, as we slowly break out of lockdown and build back our economy.

"Thanks to those that have not yet opened and thanks to those that have served us throughout lockdown."
