Today marks the anniversary of the first lockdown and the nation will be remembering the tragic loss of life and standing with those millions who are grieving.

Tuesday, 23rd March, has been chosen as a National Day of Reflection by charity Marie Curie, who is asking people to 'take a minute to reflect and a moment to connect' by joining in with a minute's silence at noon, shining a light at 8pm or reflecting on the last year in their own way.

Marie Curie are also encouraging the public to buy colourful flowers to place in their windows or to send to someone who is grieving.

It is hoped this day will allow people to pause and think about the pandemic, the unprecedented losses and to show their support for each other.

The churches in the parish of Congleton will be supporting the National Day of Reflection.

Holy Trinity, Mossley, St John's Buglawton, St Stephen's and St Peter's will be open from 10am to 12.15pm.

Daffodils will be provided for those who would like to lay them as a mark of respect.

The churches will be open if people want to sit quietly and remember and pray.

A one-minute silence will be observed at noon in each church.
