Congleton Paddling Pool is opening this weekend – in time for the May half-term school holiday.

And families are hoping scorching temperatures over the weekend will return so little ones can make a big splash in the pool.

The town's paddling pool has entertained children throughout the summer months since the 1930s.

A Congleton Town Council spokesperson said: "It will work on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum of 140 people in the pool facility at any time.

"The online booking system has been dropped – no booking in advance required.

"The pool is designed for children aged 11 and under and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

"There will be two sessions per day, 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 5pm with a break from 1pm – 2pm when everyone will need to leave the pool area while it is cleaned and tested ahead of the afternoon session.

"Once 140 people have been admitted, anyone else turning up must wait for people to leave before they can be admitted. A dedicated new queuing area has been created within the pool area as a safe waiting zone."

The paddling pool will be open until September 1st and visitors driving there are advised to park in town centre car parks.

The pool is next to the Daneside Theatre, Park Road, CW12 1DP.
