Body of missing elderly man found at reservoir

The body of a man has been recovered from a reservoir near Biddulph.

Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a body believed to be that of missing 74-year-old man Malcolm, from Lask Edge, has been recovered from Knypersley Reservoir.

Malcolm had been missing since January, with emergency services called to the scene at around 4.30pm on Sunday (March 9).

A spokesperson from the Staffordshire Moorlands Local Policing Team said: "Officers recovered the body of a man from a reservoir on Sunday.

"We were called at 4.30pm to Knypersley Reservoir off Greenway Bank in Biddulph.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

"Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water by fire crews.

"We are not treating the death as suspicious.

"We believe the body to be that of missing 74-year-old man, Malcolm, from Lask Edge near Biddulph Moor. Formal identification will take place in due course.

"His next of kin have been informed and a file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner."
