A biker was taken to hospital following a crash on the M6.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist had to be taken to Leighton Hospital after being struck by a car on the motorway on Saturday (April 5).

The crash, which occurred at around 10.50am, saw traffic brought to a standstill on the northbound carriageway, between junction 16 (Crewe) and 17 (Sandbach/Congleton).

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 10.50am on Saturday, April 5, police were called to a collision on the M6 northbound, between junctions 16 and 17.

"Highways Officers attended and found the collision involved a car and a motorbike.

"The rider of the bike sustained minor injuries and was taken to Leighton Hospital as a precautionary measure."

Motorists wanting to enter the M6 from Junction 16 at Barthomley faced long delays with traffic at a standstill. All lanes reopened around 12.25pm (Nub News).

All lanes reopened at around 12.25pm on Saturday.
