Congleton Local Policing Unit officers were out in force this week, speaking with local businesses about retail crime and how to report it using digital technology.
On Tuesday, the officers visited shops, cafes and pubs in the area, alongside Designing Out Crime Officers, who work with town planners and local authorities to reduce crime, and Northwest Regional Crime Unit officers.
Each business visited received an information pack on how to report crime and how to use Nice Investigate, an online tool which makes it easier to send CCTV to police.
The ability to easily share footage through Nice Investigate will aid in progressing enquiries efficiently and limits the need for evidence to be shared via physical media like discs and USB sticks, reducing the chances of footage being lost.
"If we've not been to you yet, don't worry, we are planning to visit as many as possible over the coming months, especially in the run up to Christmas, to provide the information packs and help you secure your business."
Congleton Town Mayor, Councillor Kay Wesley said: "The town council fully supports our local police in their efforts to enhance crime prevention and protect our community.
