A new multi-academy trust will form next term from two local and successful trusts - Congleton Multi-Academy Trust and Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust.

It follows a consultation with parents, governing bodies and staff. The new trust will be known as The Learning Alliance.

Mike Cladingbowl, whose career includes working in Crewe, Knutsford and for Ofsted, will lead the new trust with support from David Twambley as chief operating officer.

Alison Hooper, Egerton Primary's headteacher commented: "It's fantastic news for both Trusts. It will benefit our staff and children in all sorts of ways and we're really looking forward to being part of this innovative learning alliance."

Jim Barlow, headteacher at Congleton High, added: "We're very pleased with this very sensible development. It will mean working with like-minded people, more resources, better support and opportunities for staff to work together. Ultimately, that can only benefit our children."

The new trust includes the following schools across Knutsford, Congleton, Crewe and North Staffordshire:

Black Firs Primary, Congleton

Castle Primary, Mow Cop

Cheshire Studio School, Knutsford

Congleton High School, Congleton

Egerton Primary, Knutsford

Knutsford Academy, Knutsford

Sir William Stanier, Crewe

The Oaks Academy, Crewe
