'It is infuriating': Cheshire East Ranger clears litter at 'beautiful area' in Congleton

A rural crime team officer has said it is "infuriating" that a Cheshire East Ranger is having to clear up after people at a popular grassland in Congleton.

The ranger for Dane-in-Shaw Pasture which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to it being a grassland of national importance.

The ranger has spent their Saturday morning clearing the area of all types of litter.

Sgt Simpson, of the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team, said: "There is discarded clothing, alcohol, glass, footballs, you name it. This is happening more and more, and it is infuriating.

"Congleton and surrounding areas take note. People are destroying this beautiful area and it has to stop. Someone might recognise the Xmas gift note?

"We've been down to show our support and to assess the location for further visits over the weekend and beyond.

"Please share and make this kind of behaviour as socially unacceptable as other crimes."
