Astbury Mere Care Home have introduced a new activity for their residents twice a month drawing on their tender memories from childhood and a shared fondness for all things sweet.

Every other Friday, the care home's leisure and wellness team have been visiting residents in their rooms with an ice cream trolley as part of 'Ice Cream Fridays'.

Residents can enjoy a variety of delicious ice creams all served by the leisure and wellness team and they have been playing the instantly recognisable music to really bolster the nostalgia.

A spokesperson for Astbury Mere Care Home said: "This has proven to be a big hit with our residents, especially when we've been experiencing some lovely weather, and is now happening fortnightly due to popular demand."
