Fifty-one vehicles were clocked speeding across three Congleton roads on Saturday (8th August).

Congleton West Police officers, armed with a hand-held speed gun, were on Manchester Road, West Road, and Newcastle Road (all 30 mph speed limits) monitoring traffic after concerns from residents.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "PCSO Hooper and PC Bell have been out with the enforceable speed gun along Manchester Road from 12:40pm to 1:40pm. 25 activations over the hour with the highest being 42mph."

In the evening, two activations were registered along West Road between 6:15pm and 6:45pm, and a further 24 motorists were caught speeding on Newcastle Road between 6:50pm and 7:40pm.

Congleton Police Officers are halfway through a six week Road Safety operation #OpAssembles.

Speed checks will be commenced daily in hotspots all around Congleton and the surrounding areas. This is in response to concerns residents have about speeding.
