Latest figures show 195 crimes in Congleton in January

The latest crime figures released by police show there were 195 crimes in the Congleton area during January 2021.

The total came from combining the Congleton West area which covers the town centre, West Heath and Lower Heath, and the Congleton East area, which covers Buglawton, Hightown, Mossley and Timbersbrook.

Congleton West - 107 crimes

These figures compare to 92 crimes the previous month and 147 in January 2020.

From the 107 recorded incidents, these included 42 violence and sexual offences, 36 incidents of anti-social behaviour, 10 public order, eight criminal damage and arson incidents alongside 11 listed as 'other crime'.

The 11 incidents listed as 'other crime' included:

- Theft: 3
- Burglary: 4
- Drugs: 1
- Shoplifting: 1
- Other crime: 2

Congleton East - 88 crimes

These figures compare to 98 crimes the previous month and 76 in January 2020.

From the 88 recorded incidents, these included 37 violence and sexual offences, 28 incidents of anti-social behaviour, seven public order incidents and 16 listed as 'other crime'.

The 16 incidents listed as 'other crime' included:

- Theft: 2
- Burglary: 4
- Drugs: 2
- Criminal damage and arson: 4
- Vehicle crime: 3
- Other crime: 1

Crime figures for February 2021 have not yet been released.
