Fifty-seven-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assault after car collides with house in Congleton

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault after a car was driven into a house in Congleton.

At around 8.30pm on Sunday 16 May, officers were called to reports of an incident on Overton Close.

Officers attended the scene and found that a silver Peugeot 307 had been driven into the front of a house.

The incident caused substantial damage to the building and a 50-year-old woman who was inside the address sustained an injury to her leg.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

A 57-year-old local woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 18 assault, criminal damage, dangerous driving and driving while unfit.

The woman is currently being questioned by officers in police custody.

Detectives Sergeant Claire Miles said: "This appears to be an isolated incident and all those involved were known to each other.

"The victim in the case sustained serious injuries to her leg and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.

"We have already spoken to a number of residents in the local area, and I would ask anyone with any information who has not already been spoken to officers to get in touch."
