Rotary Bonfire and Firework Night

The Bonfire and Fireworks Night is back in Congleton Park on Saturday, November 4th.

Wristbands are now on sale at the Congleton Information Centre at the Town Hall and Rotary will have gazebos in the town centre on several Saturdays before the event. In advance, entry costs £7.50 for adults and £4 for children under 15.

On the day, the price rises to £10 and £6 respectively. Rotary is encouraging people to use their credit or debit cards to buy tickets and avoid the huge problems of cash and change whenever possible. The Park has a maximum capacity of 5,000 people, so it pays to book early.

As in previous years, security staff will be working on-site during the build-up on Friday and Saturday to ensure safety. The gates to the park open at 5 pm on Saturday and there is a procession to light the fire at 6 pm. A family-friendly display of smaller fireworks will start at 6.30 and the full display will start at 7.30 pm. Throughout the evening, side stalls will serve food and soft drinks and fairground attractions will be running.

Rotary-Congleton runs the event for the town and is at pains to point out that organised firework displays are much safer for the capacity crowd of 5,000 people who regularly support the show than if they were all to have unregulated bonfires and aerial fireworks in their back gardens.

Every attempt has been made to make the event as environmentally friendly and safe as possible – without destroying the spectacle and tradition of the event.

The fire is constructed from carbon-neutral dried timber and will be smaller than in previous years.

Stallholders have been asked to minimise the use of single-use plastics.
