Congleton restaurants and other eateries serving food to eat on the premises can now sign up to a new Government initiative aimed at protecting jobs in the hospitality industry and encouraging people to safely return to dining out.

The Eat Out to Help Out registration page went live this morning (Mon) on GOV.UK, allowing businesses to join the scheme announced last week by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak.

The council is advising drivers to plan their journey's using their online tool as there will likely be an increase in the number of roadworks projects as utility companies resume work delayed during the lockdown.

While stricter Covid-19 restrictions were in place, many third party and utility schemes were postponed. This has resulted in an increase in requests for highways works over the summer and autumn months – all of which can be seen on the 'OneNetwork' online system.
