It's taken nearly 20 months, but Congleton Town Council was delighted to receive the news that the White Ribbon UK has granted the council official White Ribbon Accredited status in recognition of its work to end male violence against women.

This will be announced at the town council's Community and Environment Committee meeting tonight (Thursday 24th September).

Plans for a Congleton nursing home to significantly extend its building have been met with over 20 objections from residents and the town council.

Applicant Mr Patel has submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council for a ground floor extension, which will form 11 extra bedrooms, a laundry and lounge at Heliosa Nursing Home, 54 Boundary Lane, Congleton.

Construction has begun on the Congleton Hydro Scheme

Construction has begun on the eagerly-anticipated hydro-electric generation plant on the River Dane in Congleton.

Work is now underway on the Congleton Hydro Scheme, which is being installed at the 250-year-old Havannah Weir, and will see energy being generated from rainwater; delivering a clean, renewable source of power that will have a positive impact on the environment.
