Astbury has become the first golf club in the Congleton area to install contactless flagsticks to keep players safer during the coronavirus pandemic.

Their pins act as a mini elevator to get a golf ball out of the cup and enable golfers to retrieve it after they have putted without placing their hands in the hole or risk touching a flagstick.

Harvest Celebration was very different this year at Buglawton Primary School as class assemblies replaced the usual gathering at St John's Church, Buglawton.

The usual delivering of harvest parcels to the local community was also replaced this year by pupils bringing in harvest donations that were donated to Congleton's foodbank - The Storehouse.

Specialist conservation companies have determined that two of the three statues of historic figures that looked down from the Congleton Town Hall for almost 150 years are beyond repair.

The stone figures of Queen Victoria, King Edward I and Henry de Lacy, who granted the town's first charter in 1272, were installed at the front of the town hall in 1866.

The majority of councillors supported the prospect of having a £13,000 conference system installed at Congleton Town Hall, which would allow future hybrid meetings and potential bookings to take place both in person and virtually.

Congleton Town Council committee meetings are traditionally conducted face-to-face, however, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, meetings of a face-to-face nature were unable to take place.
