A water company has revealed that a sewer in Congleton town centre overflowed due to a build-up of toilet paper and sanitary items.
Human excrement was seen flowing out of the drains outside Wetherspoons and causing quite a smell around the town centre on Tuesday evening.

With being in lockdown the chance for communities to show their gratitude for Remembrance Sunday has been significantly reduced.
Cllr Ashley Farrall, Cheshire East Council's Armed Forces Champion, suggested the council should mark streets across the borough with poppies.

Children living in Cheshire East have a unique opportunity to tell world leaders how they feel about climate change.
The borough's library service is running a year-long project for children, the results from which will be shared with organisers of COP26 – the United Nations climate change conference, due to take place in Glasgow, in November 2021.

The residents of Blossom Gate Drive, Daisy Place and Honeysuckle Close in the West Heath area of Congleton have completed another collection for their local food bank.
The organiser of the collection has also earned an unexpected tribute from a non-league football club chairman who lives 108 miles from the town, following a stunning knock-on effect from West Heath's first effort.
Plans for a popular Congleton town centre drinking establishment to relocate into the Not Just Cards shop have been welcomed by councillors.
Barley Hops has submitted plans for the change of use of 29, High Street, Congleton, from a retail shop to a drinking establishment.
