With the support and cooperation of Tesco Congleton, Churches in Congleton are holding a drive in Christmas carol celebration to which an open invitation is extended to people throughout the local community.

Joy to the World will be one of the carols and in these days of Covid-19 restrictions it is hoped there will be a full car park to enjoy the singing of traditional carols.

Cheshire East's consultation on the future of the borough's recycling centres does include an "option" for procuring a new replacement site in Congleton a cabinet member has "assured".

Last month, Cheshire East Council cabinet members voted to launch a consultation into the proposals, which sets out a variety of scenarios for the future of the centres.

NHS 111 First is aimed at reducing the pressures on A&E departments.

NURSING chiefs stress they won't turn anyone away from emergency departments within East Cheshire hospitals under a new initiative aimed at screening patients with "urgent" health concerns.

Under NHS 111 First - which was launched at hospitals across Cheshire today (Tuesday) - people are being urged to go online and make contact with the service before deciding to take a trip to A&E.

A Cong Bear Christmas panto cast

The bear who put the bear into Beartown will be bringing you all a free present this Christmas.

With nearly all pantomimes being cancelled this year, there was a worry people would be missing out on the festive tradition, but fear not, if you tune into Canalside Radio 102.8FM on Saturday, 12th December at 5.30pm, again on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm and on New Year's Day at 5.30pm you can listen to Congleton's very own eco icon Cong Bear in his first Christmas Panto.
