Cheshire East Conservative councillors have withdrawn plans to suspend parking charges in 'Council-owned car parks' for 'the borough's towns'.

Ahead of CEC's final full council meeting of 2020, Conservative group leader Cllr Janet Clowes, proposed a motion to introduce free parking after 3pm in the authority's council car park over Christmas in an effort to encourage residents to 'shop local'.

Congleton High School's students were invited to add a Christmas item to their uniform for their Christmas Jumper Day on Friday (11 December).

In return, students were asked to bring a donation for their chosen charities this year - Brake (in memory of Georgia Ogden), British Heart Foundation (in memory of Lucy Minshull) and the NSPCC.

Councillors were left perplexed that Cheshire East Council had submitted travel data in a public consultation, to determine the future of Congleton's household and waste recycling centre, during a period of national lockdown.

In November, Cheshire East Council's Cabinet gave approval for plans to be sent out for public consultation to close some of its recycling sites in 2023.

Despite the challenges of COVID, the Community Voluntary Service Toy Appeal has once again proved successful receiving a fantastic donation total of 1591 gifts kindly given by people all over Cheshire East.

The annual appeal runs in aid of children supported by local charities and family services organisations in our community, who are facing challenging times over the festive season, children who might otherwise go without presents at Christmas.
