Cheshire East Council is working in partnership with Astbury Mere Trust to repair damage to the 'well-used' footpath from Astbury Street and the visitor centre car park.

Work commenced on the footpath from Astbury Street starting at the end closest to the Mere yesterday (Tuesday, 6th April). The work will take approximately a week to complete.

An Astbury Mere Trust spokesperson said: "The path will remain open during this time. For safety, barriers will be erected around works in progress, please take care when passing them.

"We would like to thank CEC and all visitors for your continued support."
