A dog is believed to have accidentally started a fire.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued a warning to homeowners following a kitchen fire in Congleton.
It is believed the blaze, at a property on Trinity Place on Thursday afternoon (January 15), was caused by a dog.
A CFRS spokesperson said: "Yesterday, firefighters were called to a kitchen fire believed to have started after a dog accidentally switched on a cooker, igniting items that had been left on the hob.
"To help prevent fires like this, always keep tea towels, air fryers, plastic items and anything else combustible well away from your hob and cooker tops."
One fire engine, from the Congleton station, was sent to the scene shortly after 1.30pm.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a small fire involving a cooker inside a two-storey house.
The spokesperson added: "The fire was out on arrival, but smoke had filled the kitchen.
"Crews checked the property, removed burnt debris, and allowed the house to ventilate naturally.
"One person had evacuated before crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
"The fire was confirmed as accidental, believed to have been caused by a dog turning on an electric cooker, which had combustible items left on top."
