Twenty-eight vehicles were caught speeding on a road in Congleton yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Congleton West Police officers, armed with a hand-held speed gun, were on Sandbach Road (30 mph speed limit), after a couple of residents visited a community surgery voicing their concerns about speeding along the road.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "PCSO Hooper has been out with the non-enforceable speed gun. Between 8:35pm and 9:05pm, 28 vehicles were over the speed limit with 44mph being the highest."
