Despite talks of Plan B being considered for the UK last weekend, cases have actually fallen in Congleton as of last Friday.
The latest figures for the seven days up until October 21 shows a fall of almost fifty cases from the previous seven days.
The stats are as follows (brackets denote change from previous 7 days)
COVID cases by area in Congleton
Listed in Alphabetical Order Buglawton recorded 76 cases (up 7 from previous week) Cranage & Goostrey recorded 47 cases (down 18) Congleton Town recorded 40 cases (down 18) Congleton West Heath recorded 60 cases (down 43) Hightown, Mossley & Timbersbrook recorded 49 cases (down 11) This totals to 272 cases in the five areas, a much lower figure compared to 319 positive tests for the seven days leading up to October 14. In total, there have been 47 less coronavirus cases in our area in the past seven days than previous. Despite this Cheshire East's director of public health is advising Congleton to keep on wearing face masks when inside with people they don't live with. Dr Matt Tyrer, director of public health at Cheshire East Council, said: "Daily Covid-19 cases continue to rise nationally. Hospital admissions are also rising. "There are more than one hundred deaths a day in England. These numbers will sadly rise as cases continue to increase if we don't all act now. "It's not a big sacrifice to make to keep everyone safer. Wear a mask particularly in crowded places such as supermarkets, unless you are exempt. "Avoid crowded places, especially indoors. Make sure to ventilate well when you are indoors and get vaccinated for Covid and flu as soon as you can, including the Covid booster shot. "The message to our residents is very clear. Minimise the risks by remaining cautious. It's in our hands to help reduce the spread to protect ourselves and others, and the NHS, especially as we move into the really challenging winter months." Buglawton has the lowest vaccination rate in our area, with- 4% having both jabs as of October 25.

The cases in Congleton could fall again this weekend with October half-term keeping unvaccinated kids out of school, however, trick-or-treating and Halloween parties could offset this.
This is good news considering cases were their highest since the start of the pandemic in Cheshire East earlier this month.
However, there are still deaths and grieving families.
But for data protection reasons out of respect for the mourners, it is unknown how many of these were from Congleton.
There were four deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 26 October 2021 for East Cheshire hospitals.
Between 20 October 2021 and 26 October 2021, there have been 10 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 11.1% compared to the previous 7 days.
