New drama classes near Congleton aim to boost children's communication skills confidence
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 15th Mar 2026
A former drama student is on a mission to help children find their voices.
Alice Bramley has brought her Drama Kids Mid Cheshire classes to Astbury Village Hall near Congleton with the aim of helping local youngsters develop their skills and build confidence.
A global franchise, Drama Kids has operated in the Mid Cheshire area for over 10 years and Alice has recently taken over the franchise with the hope of taking it to the next level.
"I have loved Congleton as an area ever since I moved up north, as we visited regularly with my fiancé's family," said 29-year-old Alice who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Drama Studies from Bath Spa University, followed by a Master's in Creative Writing at Chester.
"When considering where to set up new classes, I spoke with the previous owner of the region, who said he had held classes at Astbury Village Hall in the past.
"As he was winding down to retirement, the class shut down, but it had such great potential to start up a new class again!"

Alice first took up drama lessons with Drama Kids, then known as Helen O'Grady, when she was just four-years-old.
For the past eight years, Alice, originally from the Sevenoaks area, has worked with children from birth to 18, combining her love of drama and storytelling with a passion for helping young people to succeed.
"My old drama lessons when I was growing up gave me confidence, communication and creativity for life, and I want to pass these skills on to the next generation," she said.
Having taken over the Drama Kids Mid Cheshire franchise with the help of a Government start-up loan, Alice hosted her first classes in Congleton earlier this month.
She said: "It's started well! We're eager to fill the class with more students in preparation for our play that we are performing in the summer term at the Alsager Civic!
"Our classes are a mix of improvisation, speech techniques, movement and each lesson we practice and perform a whole play! We have dress-up days, bring-a-friend days, parent presentation days, and our summer term show!
"At Drama Kids Mid Cheshire, we also plan on putting on some school holiday workshops in future that will be announced on our social media at a future date."

Alice added: "This programme works wonders for children.
"As much as we are all about drama and having fun and being silly, rooted at our core is the development of children's confidence and communication.
"We help your child grow as a person and build personal skills that help throughout life, not just on a stage."
