A section of a busy road in Congleton is due to close for around two days next month.

Mill Street will be closed between Antrobus Street and Rope Walk on 12 and 13 December whilst Cheshire East Council carry out 'highway repair and maintenance works'.

A Road Closure Notice reads: "The alternative route will be via the following streets: - Mill Street, Rood Hill Roundabout, Rood Hill, Clayton Bypass, Clayton-by-pass Roundabout, West Road Roundabout, West Street, Antrobus Street

"Pedestrian access to any premises situated within the temporary closure will be maintained at all times. Cyclists will be required to dismount in order for access to be maintained. Vehicular access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and residents where possible.

"The closure is necessary for Cheshire East Highways to carry out Bus Stop Lining and signage works.

"It is anticipated that the works will take place on the following date(s): Thursday 12th December 2024 to Friday 13th December 2024."
