Public toilets at Congleton Market to temporarily close for inspection
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 16th Oct 2026
Public toilets at Congleton Market will have to close for an inspection.
Cheshire East Council's service provided is to carry out an initial site inspection and any necessary repairs to ensure the facilities can remain operational.
The inspection will also help establish what further work may be needed to improve and update the toilets to an appropriate standard.
It is not clear how long this temporary closure will last.
Congleton Town Mayor, councillor Suzy Firkin, said: "We recognise that the temporary closure may cause inconvenience to residents and visitors, and we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding while the inspection and any necessary repairs are carried out.
"Public toilets are an important facility for our town, and we hope this work will help ensure they can continue to serve the community."
Cheshire East Council owns the toilets and is responsible for their maintenance, including repairs and improvements.
Congleton Town Council is responsible for opening and closing the toilets and for their day-to-day cleaning.
