Police are stepping up their efforts to stop crime on New Year's Eve.

There will be an increased police presence in Congleton on Tuesday night, December 31.

It follows requests from members of the public.

A spokesperson for Congleton Police said: "Are you out celebrating tomorrow night?

"As requested in your feedback, there will be a high visibility police presence in the town centre tomorrow evening and into the early hours.

"We are there to provide reassurance to those enjoying a night out, though also to detect and deter crime.

"If something doesn't seem right, please come and speak to an officer and we will be happy to help!

"We hope you all have a great New Year."
