Police make sure drivers are 'winter ready' ahead of the Christmas getaway
Police have been keeping an eye on the roads ahead of the Christmas getaway.
Officers in Congleton, Alsager and Odd Rode carried out a traffic operation, codenamed Sparkles, earlier this week.
Crews were out on Monday (December 16) ensuring that vehicles werewinter ready, with all driver details in order as well as tax, MOT and insurance.
"We're pleased to say, no vehicles or drivers required enforcing and just a few 'advisories' given," said a Congleton Police spokesperson.
"To be winter ready, vehicles were checked on tyre tread, widescreen wash, and cleanliness of registration plates.
"Please drive safely this festive period and make sure everyone gets home soundly."
This operation by Congleton Police comes after the AA issued several amber traffic warnings ahead of the holidays.
Friday, December 20, is predicted to be the busiest day on the roads over the festive period, with an estimated 23.7 million drivers expected to get behind the wheel.
Anyone heading down south for Christmas will want to be aware that the M5/M6 interchange is one of nine traffic hotspots identified by the AA for Friday.
Heavy traffic is also expected to affect the M6 between J4 and J11.
