Police investigating reports of attempted abduction of Congleton schoolboy

Police are investigating the potential attempted abduction of a Congleton schoolboy.
At around 3.40pm on Wednesday (September 17), police received a call from a school in Congleton to say that a 13-year-old boy had been approached by a man while walking home along Sandbach Road.
It is understood the man, who was in a car, had offered to give the pupil a lift home.
The boy declined the offer before returning to his school to inform staff, who subsequently called the police.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers are currently working with the school, and a number of enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to the incident.
"Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via our website, quoting IML-2177825."
Police have stated that the vehicle, believed to be a grey Audi, drove away from the area after the child declined the offer of a lift home.
At no point did the driver exit the vehicle, however, he was described as a white man in his early to mid-20s and had short brown hair.

It is understood that Congleton High School has emailed parents regarding this situation.
The email, which has been shared on social media, explains that the school will be increasing the vigilance of duty staff at the end of the day, who will be on patrol outside the school building.
It adds: "We are keen to ensure that parents are well informed and that we do all that we can to promote safe behaviours both in and out of school.
"We feel that it is important for the whole school community to be aware of the concerns that have been raised with regards to these reports.
"Please have conversations with your child about the potential dangers of interacting with strangers on the way to and from school."
Congleton High School has been contacted for further information.
