Plan to turn Congleton bridal shop into tattoo studio
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 28th Apr 2026
A Congleton bridal shop could be given a new lease of life as a tattoo studio.
Plans have been submitted to Cheshire East Council for the change of use at 63 Lawton Street.
The unit was most recently home to Seventh Heaven Bridal, which closed at the end of last year.
Should the plans be approved, the site will be turned into a tattoo studio.
A heritage statement included in the application states: "63 Lawton Street, is a modest early 20th-century terraced shop that contributes positively to the character of the Congleton conservation area.
"The proposed change of use to a tattoo studio involves no external or structural alterations and therefore will have no adverse impact on the building's heritage significance or the character and appearance of the conservation area.
"With adherence to the recommendations regarding signage, the proposal is considered acceptable in heritage terms and consistent with the objective of conserving the special character of the conservation area"

The 63 Lawton Street property was built in the early 1900s, with the shop front altered and updated in 2005.
The application, submitted by Louise Towers on behalf of Terra Firma Tattoo, concerns only the ground floor of the premises.
It states that there will be no external or internal physical alterations as part of this conversion from a bridal shop to a tattoo studio.
Validated on Monday, April 27, the application comes just months after the closure of Seventh Heaven Bridal.
A Facebook post shared by owner Helen Allen in November reads: "This is not a story of 'another high street closure'.
"Cheshire East are not to blame. For 16 years business rate relief has meant that 7th Heaven was exempt and benefited from the great work that our local council does to promote the town.
"The support from the local community has been overwhelming and those who travelled to us from further afield have had nothing but praise for Congleton and all that it has to offer.
"Sadness is not an emotion I will feel when I recall my 7th Heaven years. Friendship, pride, love, laughter, joy, hard work, determination, self confidence, growth, respect, thanks, generosity, connection, support, are just some of the feelings that I will remember forever.
"The bridal industry is amazing but can be lonely, it's extravagant but requires a lot of investment, it's 'the best job in the world' but is a tough business to succeed in."
