The owners of an architecture company in Congleton have submitted plans to erect five houses in a garden in Somerford.

Mr and Mrs Cooper of Added Value Architecture Ltd, Congleton, seek outline planning permission for five dwellings and associated garages at land to the rear of 40 Blackfirs Lane, Congleton.

According to the applicant, the existing dwelling "enjoys an extremely generous plot" of 0.54 hectares.

The application would retain 0.18 hectares for the existing dwelling and provide a 0.36 hectare site for the five proposed properties.

The site is designated as being within the Back Lane and Radnor Park boundary, a designated housing and employment site where the delivery of around 750 new homes are planned alongside "prominent" leisure and recreational uses.

In a design and access statement submitted alongside the application, the report stated: "The existing and proposed dwellings would be sited within good-sized plots which relate to the size of plots in the immediate context and would avoid overdevelopment in line with Policy H2 as described in the Somerford Neighbourhood Plan.

"We believe that this outline proposal will provide a positive contribution to the Back Lane and Radnor Park community."

The last date for submitting comments on the application which can be viewed here is 14th April.

Through delegated powers, Cheshire East planning officers are expected to make a decision on the application by 11th May.
