Priesty Fields care home, in Congleton, is nearing completion.

A Congleton care home has revealed the ten best potential names for its new in-house gastropub – and invites the public to decide the overall winner via online vote.

Priesty Fields, a 78-bed purpose-built nursing care home set to open in Congleton in June, has selected its ten favourite suggestions submitted by the public as part of a competition to name its authentic gastropub, in partnership with The Cheshire Brewhouse.

After much consideration from the team at Priesty Fields, the pun-laden finalists include:

- Ye Olde Moreton (The Grey Lady)

- The Priestley Inn

- The Field and Sun

- The Rectory

- The Confessional

- The Remember Inn

- The Cares' Arms

- The Sanctuary

- The Priests' Rest

- The Travelling Priest

While a number of witty and playful names were submitted, some of the suggestions that made the shortlist were inspired by the history of Congleton.

Ye Olde Moreton was influenced by a former country house in the local area said to be constructed in the 16th century.

While The Rectory was inspired from the walk that priests would make through the fields from Astbury to Congleton for services at St Peter's Church.

The overall winner will have their chosen name adorning the new pub ahead of its June opening, with the winning entry also incorporated as part of a traditional pub sign.

Furthermore, the winner will also receive a special gift box from The Cheshire Brewhouse's microbrewery.

Rishi Sodha, Care Director at Handsale, said: "There are some great choices in the final ten and we're confident the public will pick a name that really resonates with residents, the community, and heritage of Congleton.

"The imagination and creativity of some of the suggestions put forward has been wonderful to see, and I have a feeling the final run in will be a close one.

"Still, we trust the public will make the right decision."

Located in a green residential area close to Congleton's town centre, Priesty Fields will include 78 spacious en-suite bedrooms, along with a gastropub, farmers market, cinema, spa, salon, gym, library, private dining room, garden lounge, and GP office.

The home will be operated by the Handsale care group, which oversees the management of eight residential and nursing care homes across England, Scotland and Wales.

Rishi concluded: "We look forward to reviewing the results and seeing which name the public chooses to adorn the gastropub ahead of our opening in two months' time.

"Given the variety of names that have been suggested, I think they could all be within a shout of being crowned winners."

Votes can be made by visiting here. Voting will close at midnight on Friday, April 30, with the overall winner announced shortly after.
