A man has died after falling from a bridge.

Cheshire Police have provided an update after the A536 Congleton Bypass was shut for two hours on Friday, December 20.

It has now sadly been conformed that a man fell from a bridge, sustaining serious injuries.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 3.17pm on Friday, December 20, police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man on the A536, Congleton Bypass.

"Officers attended the scene and found that a man had fallen from a bridge and sustained serious injuries. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road was closed in both directions from the A54 at Somerford to the A34, Manchester Road.

"The road reopened at around 5pm."
