An electric vehicle charging hub has opened in Congleton.

Source, a joint venture between SSE and TotalEnergies, has announced the opening of an EV charging hub on Manchester Road in Lower Heath.

The area's first public EV charging facility, it features six bays with 150kW ultra-rapid chargers, allowing drivers to 'charge and go' in around 15 minutes.

Deepa Chandrasekaran, managing director at Source, said: "We're delighted to bring Source's ultra-rapid charging to Congleton, particularly for residents in Lower Heath who've previously had limited local options.

"At Source, we're not just building charge points, we're building confidence.

"By strategically placing our hubs where they're genuinely needed, we're ensuring that EV drivers in Cheshire East have convenient access to the fastest charging technology available."

The new hub includes facilities for both standard and rapid charging, with CCS connections available across all six bays.

Powered by renewable energy, the hub utilises infrastructure from SSE and technology from TotalEnergies to provide both environmental benefits and convenient charging.
