Congleton dental nurse, Emma Sadio, is taking time from her paid job to treat people in one of the world's poorest countries.

Congleton dental nurse, Emma Sadio, is walking the length of Istanbul this month to raise money to fund a trip to Malawi.

She is headed to the southeast African nation to volunteer to provide dental treatment to hundreds of people who have no access the dental care.

She has fundraised £983 of the £2100 costs towards her trip, where she will be helping those less fortunate than us.

"I will be working alongside local dentists in dental clinics in orphanages, community centres, slum areas and remote villages," Emma said.

Emma will be volunteering in one of Africa's poorest nations in March and April 2023, ranked 149th in the world for overall GDP.

"There is a desperate need for dental care in Malawi – a country with less than 50 dentists for a population of 19 million people. People walk miles to get to these centres.

"To raise money for this charity and recognise the distance many have to travel, I will fly to and walk the length of my favourite city, Istanbul (the world's only pan-continental city spanning both Europe and Asia) which is roughly 80km (about 50 miles) and I'll do this over 3-4 days.

"I would massively appreciate any donations no matter how small to support this amazing charity; everyone should have access to a dentist. If you share with your friends also that would be awesome!"
