Following their sell-out smash hit Grease: the Musical, the Congleton Musical Theatre (CMT) team are getting ready to host their next production, Legally Blonde: The Musical.

CMT is a community-based amateur musical society affiliated to NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association).

The society produces a musical show each year, in October, at the Daneside Theatre in Congleton. The society endeavours to achieve a professional standard of presentation. Principal parts are awarded through open auditions.

The company designs and builds their own sets in the workshop at Daneside Theatre. Each set is tailored, and the team strive to have lighting and sound to the very highest standards available to the amateur stage.

On top of these skills, the team comprises of talented local singers, dancers and actors who are excited to put on their upcoming production of Legally Blonde.

Based on the novel and the hit-movie of the same name, Legally Blonde: the Musical chronicles the journey of the famously perky Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy, UCLA sorority girl who finds her life turned upside down when she is dumped by her boyfriend Warner.

In an effort to prove to Warner that she is more than just some blonde sorority girl, she follows him to Harvard Law, where she struggles to fit in and do well. Ultimately, she defies expectations and manages to stay true to her delightfully pink personality.

The book was written by Heather Each, with music and lyrics by Laurence 'Larry' O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

The production will take place from 22 to 26 October at Daneside Theatre, and tickets will be available from Ticketsource via the CMT website.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music theatre International. All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

CMT has a loyal following of core members but new members, be they actors, singers, dancers or backstage staff, are always most welcome. Members contribute at a number of levels; non-acting members assist during show week or in backstage roles and performing members commit a significant amount of time to rehearsals, as well as during show week.

Find out more, including how to join, on the company's website.

Location: Daneside Theatre, Park Road, Congleton, Cheshire. CW121DP
