Gin distillery up for sale as health issues leave owner unable to drink alcohol

A gin distillery has been put up for sale.
Clare and Mike Ryan, owners of The Edge Distillery in Astbury, have announced they are looking to sell up.
They say that health issues left them with no choice but to make this 'difficult' decision.
"It's with mixed emotions that we share some very sad personal news," reads a post on the distillery's Facebook.
"After many joyful years running our gin distillery, we have made the difficult decision to put the business up for sale due to health reasons."
The post continues, explaining that Clare underwent an emergency appendectomy last year.
During the course of her treatment, doctors discovered irreparable issues with her pancreas and tumours that are now being closely monitored.
This has required a change to her diet, most notably that she can no longer consumer alcohol.
"As you can imagine, this makes it difficult for us to continue running a business so closely tied to tasting and experimenting with new gin recipes, something we've always done together," the post states.

The distillery, off Chance Hall Lane, will welcome visitors to their gin experiences until the end of June, but will continue making gin until all of the remaining base spirit stock has been used up.
Clare and Mike said: "This distillery has been a labour of love, and we've been incredibly grateful for all the support, laughs, and good times shared with our customers, especially during our gin experiences and tastings.
"If you or someone you know is passionate about craft spirits and would be interested in taking over a well-established and much-loved small business, we'd love to hear from you.
"We're more than happy to provide full training and support to ensure a smooth and successful handover.
"Thank you for being part of our story. We're incredibly proud of what we've built and deeply appreciative of the wonderful community that has supported us throughout."
