Firefighters rescued a trapped pony from a grill gate in Marton.

Shortly after 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, 1st June), firefighters were called to reports of a pony being stuck in a grill gate.

Crews, with the help of an animal rescue unit and a vet, managed to free the trapped pony.

The pony was checked over by the vet and found to have sustained minor injuries.

A Congleton Fire Station spokesperson said: "Congleton along with specialist teams from Bollington and Lymm attended an incident where a pony got his hooves trapped.

"Due to the calmness of the owners and the skill of the crews he was not injured and was soon reunited with his mum."

Three fire engines attended from Congleton, Bollington and Lymm - as did an animal rescue unit from Bollington.
