Fire crews called to Moody Street

Firefighters have been called to an empty building in Congleton following reports of a fire.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus made a search of the Moody Street building and found a fire in a first floor room.

Three fire engines attended, one from Congleton, Holmes Chapel and Macclesfield shortly after 2.15pm today (Monday).

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "They used a high pressure hose reel jet to put out the fire.

"Crews are checking the rooms for fire spread using a thermal imaging camera and remain on scene."

No details have been provided as to the cause of the fire.
