Countryside rangers reveal bumper lineup of events taking place at beauty spots near Congleton

Cheshire East Council's Ranger Service has unveiled a bumper lineup of activities taking place in 2025.
Around 100 events are planned, with everything from wildlife walks and kids clubs to birdwatching and poetry workshops.
Best of all, you don't have to travel far, with plenty of activities taking place just a stone's throw from Congleton.
Here's everything you can look forward to in the next three months.

Outdoor Fitness Class at Astbury Mere Country Park - Tuesday, March 4, and every first Tuesday of the month
Open to everyone even if you are wanting to add extra training to your week or wanting to get fit after having a child in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. No matter what fitness level you are the class can be tailored to suit all abilities.
Brereton Heath Local Nature Reserve Easter Hunt - Saturday, April 5 to Sunday, April 27
Ranger Mark's Easter Eggs have been stolen! Can you help him find the wildlife that has taken them and collect their names? Pick up a map from near the visitor centre and get searching around the park.
The Birdlife of Astbury Mere - Sunday, April 6
Join local birder Mark Stubbs for an early morning walk around Astbury Mere to see the extensive birdlife that thrives in the park.
A Feast of Flowers - Tuesday, April 29
A morning stroll along the Biddulph Valley Way and through Dane-in-Shaw Pasture Site of Special Scientific Interest looking for spring wildflowers and chatting about some of their uses and folklore.
Community woodland management - Friday, May 2
What qualities make Astbury Mere Country Park so special? Join Countryside Ranger Matt Axford, and Forester Luke Myatt for a guided walk around the park to see how we actively manage the park's trees whilst providing opportunities for public enjoyment and engagement with the landscape.
Fancy a Paddle - Tuesday, May 27
A chance to learn a little bit about canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding on the beautiful Rudyard Lake. The event is delivered by Moorland Adventure. Full instruction equipment and buoyancy aids will be provided.
