Congleton councillor proposes a bank holiday that will bring the community together after the Coronavius has gone

By Guest 27th Apr 2020

A popular local Congleton councillor is finding growing public support for his reimagining of a May bank holiday.

Congleton councillor Rob Morton has proposed that from next year, if we are free from the Coronavirus, a May bank holiday should be renamed to Bringing Communities Together Day.

Cllr Moreton has proposed that street parties would be encouraged to bring neighbours closer together.

A certain time in the day would be put aside for a minutes silence to remember the people we lost, followed by a minutes clapping for the NHS and other key workers.

With the day being held every year, our children and future generations will be educated on the Coronavirus and it will be a reminder that the people lost and our NHS and Keyworkers will never be forgotten.
