Council respond to 'extremely dangerous' pothole flowers social media stunt

The council say they are 'working hard' to fix potholes following a social media stunt.
TikTokers Harry Harry Smith-Haggett and Jacob Kitton, owner of The Bin Guy Limited, recently took to the streets of Congleton to highlight the declining state of the town's roads.
In a video shared to their combined 90,000-plus followers, the pair planted flowers in potholes as they called on Cheshire East Council to 'sort them out'.
Councillor Mark Goldsmith, chair of the highways and transport committee, has reiterated that work to resolve the issue is underway, while condemning their 'dangerous' behaviour.
He said: "We urge people not to risk their lives by going into the road to plant flowers or try to fix potholes.
"This can be extremely dangerous.
"We encourage the public to report potholes online through our official channels - this helps us identify and prioritise repairs to keep our roads safe for everyone."

Councillor Goldsmith added: "We understand the frustration potholes cause, and it's not just a problem here in Cheshire East.
"We're working hard to tackle the issue across the borough, supported by our biggest investment in roads and transport in a decade - more than £53 million in 2025/26.
"In Congleton, recent and upcoming highways works include resurfacing on West Road, and planned works on Back Lane, Delamere Road, and Buxton Road.
"Despite a significant investment this year, we still don't have enough money to do everything we'd like to do. This is especially true for roads maintenance.
"We remain committed to keeping our roads safe and are focused on using our available budget as effectively and efficiently as possible."
