Cordon set up after firefighters find ruptured gas pipe during an incident in Congleton

A cordon was set up in a Congleton street today (Tuesday) after fire crews discovered a ruptured gas pipe at an incident. 

A fire engine from Congleton and another from Macclesfield went to a property in St Johns Road just after 1 pm today (Tuesday). 

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were called to a fire involving a fence at the side of a semi-detached house.  

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. An occupant inside the address has been accounted for.  

"Crews discovered a ruptured gas pipe at the incident. Police attended to set up a cordon on St Johns Road. Cadent Gas has been asked to attend to isolate the mains gas."
