A good cause set in memory of a late teenager, has made a donation to a charity which provides activities to disabled teens and children.

Congleton's The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation, has made a generous donation to support disabled children and young people in Macclesfield, who attend Macclesfield-based sessions hosted by Friends of Leisure.

Friends for Leisure (F4L) - which will celebrate their 30th anniversary next year - was founded by parents of disabled children who found a lack of activities in the local area for disabled children to do.

Fast-forward to today, the Congleton-based charity, which was founded in Macclesfield, hosts activities and social events for children and young adults with disabilities.

The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation, who have previously supported Friends for Leisure, have now done so again, to support the work F4L does with disabled children and young people between 5-21 years of age.

They have donated £3,000 to help Friends for Leisure to provide drama sessions for a term, monthly bowling for over 18s in Macclesfield, and meals out for our youth group in Macclesfield for each term of the forthcoming academy year.

Mark and Mandy Ogden, of The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation said "The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation have organised a number of fundraising activities again this year in memory of our beloved daughter Georgia."

"It gives us great pleasure to be able to donate to Friends for Leisure for a second time to help support them with the vital support and leisure activities they provide for children and young adults with disabilities in the Cheshire East area."

Mandy, who is a Macclesfield Hospital employee, set up the Foundation with partner Mark following Georgia's passing, aged just 17, when the Suzuki Swift in which she was travelling as a passenger crashed into a HGV.

Friends for Leisure are delighted to be supported once again by The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation.

Gillian Jones, Charity Manager said "It is wonderful to have the support of The Georgia Leigh Ogden Foundation as it makes such a difference to the youngsters we are working with.

"It means we can continue the work that we do, and which allows our youngsters to make friends, a chance to do things that other youngsters their age do.
