Congleton's Boots Opticians retailer has reassured customers that contrary to yesterday's reports their shop, which is part of a "successful" three store franchise group will not be at risk of closure.

Nub News reported yesterday (Thursday) that the company announced that it will be cutting 4,000 jobs and closing 48 Boots Opticians stores.

Boots UK says it is 'taking decisive action to mitigate the significant impact that Covid-19 has had on the business.'

The article that Nub News incorrectly wrote assumed that Congleton's Boots Opticians, on Bridge Street, could be at risk of closing without speaking to the store beforehand and getting the full facts.

This is not the standard that we at Nub News expect of ourselves, assumptions should never be made, and we can only humbly apologise for this grave error.

Mark Quinn, business development manager for Congleton's Boots Opticians told Nub News: "We are a franchise, part of a successful three store group including Cheadle and Denton.

"The store is performing well above expectations and is increasing the services available to our local community, investing heavily in state of the art technology.

"We have worked hard over the three years since opening to offer services not available in the local area to our community and trying to improve the health of our patients."

If you would like to book an eyesight test or contact assessment, call the Congleton team on 01260 272764.
