Everybody Health and Leisure were overwhelmed by the inspirational stories from individuals, sporting stars and community heroes in Cheshire East.
Everybody Health and Leisure are a registered charity which aims to provide 'leisure for life' by improving the health and wellbeing of local communities. The charity operates 16 leisure facilities including 9 swimming pools and 7 Taste for Life cafes across the Cheshire East region, and delivers a range of targeted health, sports and disability and inclusion programmes.
They couldn't wait to share the below winners from the Everybody Awards 2023, which took place in October, where 150 guests attended the exclusive Crewe Hall in Cheshire.
Everybody welcomed back the fantastic Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Paralympic athlete who returned to host the Awards for 2023.
The Everybody Awards is an annual celebration which recognises the achievements of local heroes in a sport, physical activity or health and wellbeing in Cheshire East, who deserve to be recognised for all of their hard work and dedication in the community.
Residents across Cheshire were recognised, with one Congleton man being recognised alongside his peers in the Unsung Hero Award category:
Timothy Isherwood, a local volunteer who works at a local primary school supporting the education of Congleton's youth, was at the awards proudly representing Congleton.
Those who were recognised in the Unsung Hero Award were:
- Timothy Isherwood – School Volunteer
- David Hubbard – Macclesfield Town Ladies Football Club
- Gemma Hamilton – Head Coach at Wilmslow Academy of Gymnastics
- Mollie Latham – Women's Rugby Team
Despite the strong lineup, Timothy was recognised as the winner of the competitive category.
Timothy volunteers at Marlfield's Primary Academy and without doubt meets the definition of a volunteer, often without having been asked to do it and without expecting anything in return. Outside of the time he works within school at the weekly lessons, Timothy organises fun events for the children to set themselves personal challenges and to help fundraise for the RNLI. He has shown himself to be an avid reader of reports, articles and guidance on swimming, its benefits and how to teach it. He has given more of his own time and has proven to be the school's knowledgeable nominee who has ensured they are up to date with the curriculum.
