Local residents are being invited to help tidy up the town.

Congleton in Bloom will stage its next Town Tidy on Saturday, October 3, following a request to help spruce up Vale Walk.

Volunteers will meet at the Community Garden on Lawton Street at 10am before heading to Vale Walk to weed and clean the ancient cobbles.

Those who prefer to stay at the Community Garden can help with a range of autumn gardening tasks.

Glen Williams, Congleton's Town Tidy Champion, said: "Our Town Tidy days are a great way for people to get involved, meet others and make a visible difference to the town.

"We were approached by local residents who felt Vale Walk could do with a bit of attention, so we're looking forward to getting stuck in and giving the area a spruce up."

Congleton in Bloom hosts Town Tidy Days on the first Saturday of every month, tackling seasonal jobs and responding to areas where local communities would welcome some extra help.

Glen added: "If there's an area in another neighbourhood that could do with a bit of TLC, Congleton in Bloom would be happy to hear from local residents.

"Getting communities involved is what these days are all about."

The upcoming Town Tidy will run from 10am to midday and is open to everyone, whether young or old, volunteering alone, with family and friends, or as part of a community group.

No experience is needed and all equipment will be provided.

Volunteers are simply asked to wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.
