Everybody Health & Leisure based in Cheshire East, are relaunching their ESCAPE-pain for backs programme on 27th February, at Congleton Leisure Centre and Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

Everybody Health & Leisure is a registered charity which aims to provide 'leisure for life' by improving the health and wellbeing of local communities. The charity operates 16 leisure facilities including nine swimming pools and seven Taste for Life cafés across the Cheshire East region, and delivers a range of targeted health, sports and disability and inclusion programmes.

The team is also helping local people take back control with their new programme targeting back pain.

ESCAPE-pain for backs is a rehabilitation programme designed to help reduce pain and disability for people with chronic lower back pain, through education and exercise.

Donna Williamson, Senior Health Innovation Manager at Everybody Health & Leisure, said: "We are delighted to share the ESCAPE-pain for backs programme will be relaunching within our facilities from February. The ESCAPE-pain for backs programme reduces pain, improves physical function and improves mental wellbeing, self-confidence and self-esteem.

"The weekly sessions give participants a chance to take part in a group exercise programme, weekly educational discussions on self-management & coping strategies and circuit style exercise classes, which are individualised and progressive to suit each individual's needs."

To access the programme, you must be 18 years and over, have no contraindications to exercise, independently mobile and able to carry out regular exercise and committed to taking part in a 12-week exercise programme, consisting of attending two classes per week for the initial first six weeks, followed by a further six-week membership for unlimited use of Everybody's leisure facilities.

On joining the programme, you will have a telephone consultation where Everybody Health & Leisure will take your details, discuss the programme and complete a questionnaire regarding your condition.

If you would like further information, to enrol on the programme or have any questions please contact the Everybody Healthy team on: [email protected] or phone: 01270 685589.
