Congleton MP meets with water company amid concerns over 'excessive' sewage dumps

Congleton's MP is on a mission to stop sewage dumps.
Last week, Sarah Russell took representatives from United Utilities on a tour of the constituency.
They visited various sites where there has been 'excessive' amounts of sewage dumped in rivers and streams.
Mrs Russell said: "Across the constituency, there is far too much sewage in our rivers and streams.
"I've spoken to countless constituents about their difficulties with this, and see it myself in each town."

During the visit on Tuesday, September 23, Mrs Russell and United Utilities visited sites in Alsager, Holmes Chapel, and Sandbach.
They also checked out the Bromley Road/Coronation Road combined storm overflow in Congleton.
Mrs Russell spoke with the water company about mains renewals, water re-use, their work on storm overflows and the upgrades they are making to their treatment works.
She said: "They told me that they're going to be spending several billion pounds over the next few years on improving their infrastructure and upgrading sewage treatment plants.
"I want to make sure that our area gets its fair share of that investment, and I'll keep working for you to make sure that it does."
