An idyllic pub near Congleton has applied for planning permission.

The Plough Inn Eaton has applied to Cheshire East Council for a proposed extension to their existing hotel block.

The pub is located on Eaton's Macclesfield Road. (Image - Nub News)

One extra place to stay would be created.

Two new VIP rooms with an en-suite would be built across two floors, perfect for a bride and groom, should the plans get the green light.

The pub has over 40 staff.

25 square metres of floor space would be created, if the extension is approved by Cheshire East Council.

They have also applied for appropriate listed building consent, as required for the traditional Grade II-listed pub, which was first given listed status in 1989.

The 400-year-old inn is located in the Macclesfield parliamentary constituency, but is more culturally aligned with Congleton.

You can read the full plans and have your say on THIS LINK. Comments can be submitted until September 4.
